Whitepaper: USB4 - Versatile and fast

USB has evolved from a simple "common interface" for some peripherals to a versatile, universal high-speed interface for all external devices, including displays and mass storage devices.

The white paper charts the evolution of USB from version 1.1 to the latest USB4. Bandwidths and signal management (alternate modes) are described, as well as the reversible connector for USB Type-C.

USB4 combines the features of the previous USB line up to USB 3.2 with those of Thunderbolt 3, offering joint transmission of high-speed USB, DisplayPort graphics, PCIe charging/storage and host-to-host connections with backward compatibility to previous generations.

Note: This white paper is in german.
