Bluetooth Smart or Bluetooth Low Energy is a variant trimmed to low power, which is mainly used for mobile and battery-operated devices. Although it is slower in comparison with the transmission performance, it has considerably lower energy consumption. There are also predefined profiles or attributes for Bluetooth Smart, such as Heart Rate or Health Thermometer Service, but the manufacturer can also define individual attributes and services.
