The latest version DisplayPort 1.4 supports compression (3:1), which is not visually visible. This compression (DSC) enables DisplayPort 1.4 to play 8K UHD (7,680 x 4,320 pixels) at 60 Hz with 10-bit HDR video. For 4K UHD (3,840 x 2,160 pixels), refresh rates of up to 240 Hz are possible with 10-bit HDR. 12 bit HDR is only achievable at 4K with 60 Hz. DSC is almost latency-free, which means that the image reaches the sink in real time.
