If I were to ask you the first thing that pops into your head when I say Ultra-Wide Band (UWB) technology, what would you say? Chances are, you would immediately think of AirTags because UWB is a centerpiece of that best-selling Apple product. Consumers have bought tens of millions of AirTags since Apple introduced them in 2021, representing an estimated billion dollars of revenue for the company.
If you didn’t say AirTags, you probably immediately thought of key fobs. After all, UWB is also seeing an accelerating adoption curve in the automotive market, where it is becoming the technology of choice for keyless entry.
Those are enormous drivers of UWB adoption, but the technology can do a lot more than just find your lost keys, track down your lost luggage or remotely open your car doors. UWB will also see accelerating growth curves across many other markets, including medical and industrial where UWB’s strengths give it significant advantages over other connectivity technologies.
