Evaluation of LTE-M towards 5G IoT requirements

LTE-M, a machine-focused variant of the 3GPP LTE standard, is designed to meet the requirements of the Internet of Things (IoT) with high coverage, low cost and low power consumption. In January 2017, a group of more than a dozen industry players evaluated the performance of LTE-M coverage and published a white paper concluding that LTE-M supports the high coverage required for IoT applications. This follow-up report takes the next step in assessing message latency, battery life and capacity performance for LTE-M Category M-1 devices. Download this white paper to learn how LTE-M performs against the initial requirements of Cellular IoT (CIoT), 3GPP 5G IoT or Massive Machine Type (mMTC).
