Under the motto Connecting medical devices securely, the first medical design solution day will take place on December 07, 2023 in Haar near Munich. The free user day is aimed at medical technology developers and engineers and uses practical cases to demonstrate technical methods and products for innovative data and communication exchange on medical devices. Developers, suppliers and connectivity experts will come together at WEKA Fachmedien to exchange knowledge and network.

Rudolf Sosnowsky, CTO of the HY-LINE Group, will give a presentation on "Using PCAP under difficult EMC conditions."

"PCAP technology has established itself in many application areas. The transparency of the sensors enables excellent optical quality. The front screen enables an appealing design through individual shaping and printing. The flush installation predestines it for all situations in which a step would be difficult to clean. The glass material is resistant to conventional cleaning agents and can be sealed to high IP classes. With a special surface finish, it is also suitable for diagnostic imaging where good readability is important.

However, strong electric fields that change in amplitude and frequency are a challenge for the touch controller, as they radiate into the capacitive electrodes and interfere with the useful signal. Using RF surgery as an example, the influence and possible countermeasures are shown. With this concept, PCAP applications are possible without sacrificing safety and comfort even in areas where they were previously excluded by interference."
