DC high-voltage capacitors

E51 / E53 / E55

Short current paths and powerful connections for applications with high frequencies and heavy surge currents. And a simple but effective solution for high-voltage applications: even in the 50kV range, we can do without expensive ceramic insulators.

Capacitors in the E51, E53 and E55 series offer particularly low series resistance and high surge current resistance. Thanks to the use of unique metallization patterns, SINECUT™ cutting technology and sophisticated winding geometries, they are particularly suitable for damping GTO thyristors and in intermediate circuits with high RMS currents.

The special metallization of the E53 capacitors also allows them to be loaded with high AC voltage. Their very low self-inductance also allows them to be used in high-current applications in the medium frequency range. In addition to their favorable ratio of capacitance to volume, they are characterized by very good self-healing capability without loss of capacitance. The capacitors in our E55 series, which are very similar in design and properties, are optimized for large capacitances with high DC voltage values.

The E51 series capacitors are also similar in appearance to the E53 and E55 series. Thanks to a sophisticated design, they can be designed and dimensioned in such a way that dielectric partial discharges and the resulting risk of failure in the customer's application are reduced to a minimum. Despite the high voltage ratings, the E51 series is manufactured using dry technology and without complex terminal insulators.

In addition to the very good capacitance-to-volume ratio, these capacitors have very good surge current resistance and very good self-healing properties without losing capacitance. The capacitor element inside the self-extinguishing plastic can is encapsulated in PUR resin. The electrical connection is made via robust axial connections with an internal thread.

Electronicon offers film capacitors "Made in Germany". From the coating of the film to the winding and manufacturing of the capacitors, the entire process takes place at the plant in Gera. Film capacitors offer various advantages in power electronics and are environmentally friendly in production.
